Kitchen Hand (PT)

$18/hr

We're currently looking for someone to hold down the kitchen for at least 2 and up to 4 shifts (16-32 hours) per week. Weekdays (slow) at first, potentially transitioning to 1-2 weekend shifts (not-so-slow) once acclimated. The kitchen is a one-person job on weekdays, so after training you will be more or less unsupervised (though either the head roaster or general manager will likely be around, and baristas will be working alongside you).

It's a relatively simple job, mostly building sandwiches and making toast, with some prep work (baking, aioli-making, etc.) and a good amount of dish-washing! Professional kitchen experience isn't necessary, but you should have some experience with food. You also should be pretty good with your hands (ability to make even cuts, aesthetically-pleasing plates, etc).

It's Nice If You Have:

• Restaurant/cafe/bakery experience
• Handicraft/manufacturing experience
• ServSafe certification (past or present)
• Driver's license
• Sunny disposition ;)

Responsibilities Include:

• Preparing food to-order & making it look nice
• Keeping ingredients stocked throughout shift
• Practicing safe food-handling
• Washing your own dishes (baristas wash customer's dishes)
• Prepping food for future shifts (e.g. making granola, cooking eggs, etc.)
• Sanitize, sweep, mop your small area at end of shift (and trash out)
• Communicating with management when inventory is low or problems arise
• Following established standard operating procedures & being flexible / adapting to change
• Sharing opinions & offering new ideas!
